Our Happy 4th

How was your 4th?

This year we got to spend our 4th smack dab in the middle of all the craziness in Seattle. We wanted to be right there with all the action and we enjoyed every minute of it.

It was a non stop day.

We went to church. Came home. Ate lunch. Took naps. Well, the girls took naps and the boys blew stuff up in the backyard. Typical. Ate dinner. Packed in the car. Got there 3 hours before the show started. Walked 15 blocks from our parking spot to Gasworks Park in Seattle. Went through some security lines. There we were. At the biggest 4th of July celebration in Seattle.

It was called the Family 4th. For being such a huge event, it really was very family friendly. I don't mind a HUGE crowd as long as I feel safe. This was exactly that.
The fireworks picture was from that night's show. Yes, I took it :)

The best part about any holiday is spending time with these 2 :)

There were lots of booths with fun things to do and yummy things to eat, but since it was Sunday, we let everyone else enjoy them for us.

As you can see, Madi didn't mind eating the popcorn we brought from home. She couldn't shovel it into her mouth fast enough really.

There was lots of time for cuddling, and Madi found a way to bust a move WHILE still eating her popcorn.
Oh I love this girl.

We all arose as the National Anthem was sung.

Seriously the air was thick with anticipation. This picture does not do justice to the size of the crowd. It was intense.
An then, the show began! It was set to music and it filled the entire sky.

This is the first year Madi actually stayed awake for fireworks. Lets just say, her cheek was GLUED to daddy's and her arms were CLINCHED around his neck the entire time. It was adorable.

The show was spectacular! (That's the Seattle Cityscape in the backround.) I loved it.

The band "The Presidents of the United States" did performance right after the fireworks show. Just to see the look on my father in law's face was worth it. I didn't really even know who they were until they sang some familiar songs, but it was just fun to be in the craziness of it all. Every once in awhile it's fun to be a part of a HUGE crowd.

Just think, by the next 4th of July I will have a 3 year old and a almost 1 year old. CARAAAAZY!
