Best discovery ever!

So I made a discovery today that I couldn't be more happy about!!

One of the only ways I post anything, on facebook or anywhere else, is from my phone. David surprised me with an iPhone in October and I am totally loving it! It allows me to do everything i need to do online or otherwise without having to sit down at the computer. Between client emails, editing, designing, book keeping, and the list goes on, I feel like I'm always on the computer. I just couldn't justify spending more time away from my family to blog. Even if it is my journal that I cherish. So, I just decided that I'd rather live in the moment then worrying about if I was able to blog everything fast enough or not.

Now for the discovery...
There is an app for blogger!!
Why is it such a big deal? Well simply because I can blog quickly and easily from anywhere while on my phone. The pictures are already on my phone. They don't need to downloaded from my camera or resized or edited. I just push a button and they're posted!

I can't wait to get this blog going again!

Madi will turn 4 in a month! She started preschool last sept and is learning more than I ever could gave imagined. I love watching her blossom into such a beautiful little lady!

Marlie is still my little ray of sunshine. She will be 17 months in a few days an she just started walking last week! It took awhile for her to get up and going but now she's up and running...literally! I could chase after her all day and never tire of it.

Yep they are my girls :)

Here's what we've been up to these past few months in no particular order :)

Madi was what she called "a purple princess" for Halloween. Boy did she play the part well! She is quite the little princess. Marlie was a little flower. It was perfect! Just something I pieced together from different things here and there. What a doll she was!

We have been enjoying lots of time with Daddy since his day job has been ridiculously slow. Not so great for the wallet, but it is so fun to have him home with us during the week!

Two big things happened!
Marlie said her first word "grandpa!" Who she absolutely adores and I coils be more tickled about it :)
AND..Madi got her hands dirty in the pumpkin slime and liked it! Which is a huge deal if you know what a girly girl she is. Seriously though. Funny girl.

I lost some weight! On my head that is ;) I didn't even realize how long my hair was but I don't miss it one bit. I love my short hair!

We danced and sang while doing laundry :)

I had a birthday! It was a pretty great one too. Filled with family and fun. 26 has been good to me so far :)

David and I got all fancy and went to his company Christmas party. I love getting all dressed up and we don't do it often enough. It was fun!

We spent Christmas in Cali with my family and Marlie went on her first carousel ride. She loved it and was laughing the whole time (despite what this picture shows haha).

Speaking of Christmas, we went to pick up my Christmas, birthday, anniversary present from Costco a few weeks after Christmas. I am in love with my Vitamix! I use it once if not twice a day and it's wonderful!

I've used it to make everything from smoothies to soup and ice cream. Love it!

We got over a foot of snow for about a week in Jan. and it was a blast! We played and played until we were frozen. Then David would make us a cozy fire so we could defrost :)

David and I celebrated our 6 yr anniversary on Jan 21st. I woke up to these lovely flowers and a sweet note from my love <3 David had to work all weekend. So, we kept it simple and went out to lunch with the girls :) it was a very great day!

Most recently, Madi started ballet class and she is quite the dancer. Let me tell you! She absolutely loves every second of it!
We had a full week of sunshine last week and it was wonderful! We were all so happy! We played outside as much as we could. It is raining once more today, but we'll look forward to our next few rays of sunshine!

Well my hand is getting a cramp from laying in bed and typing on the phone. Not to mention it's 1am, but oh how good it feels to blog again!

Mommy I have something for you...

Sometimes those words mean something really cute or funny is about to happen, and other times it means that Madi has done something...shall we say...naughty!

On Friday morning when I got home from some church business, I heard these words.

The scene that followed went something like this:

Madi handed me a ziplock sandwitch bag with something odd inside.
It took a second for me to realize what I was holding in my hand....
Hair. Yes, a bag of my girl's hair.

This is what I saw...

She just pretty much took the scissors and started chiopping bits and pieces here and there. Lovely.

I freaked out just a little bit....ok more than a little bit.

I didn't really know what to do.

Once I regained my common sense, it was a no brainer. It's time for a her first REAL hair cut!

Ok, don't tell Madi this, but secretly I've been wanting to do some kind of an A-line bob hair cut on her for the past couple of months. Her hair always looks kind of unkempt lately. Even when I take the time to do it, she manages to get it all messed up one way or another. Well, this gave me the push I needed to do it! Seriously though, do not tell Madisyn. After the time out and the long talks and the locking up of all the scissors in the house, and all the extra drama that went into making sure she knows that she made a bad choice, I don't want her thinking "mommy wanted to cut my hair short anyways and I just helped her make her decision more quickly". That won't look so great for my case :)

I called the one and only Tenille Osborn and we were set!

The transformation...

We put on a movie and it was the perfect distraction. She held still pretty much the whole time. Yay!

There goes my baby's hair!

Getting all styled up!

Loving every minute of it!

Isn't she stylin!

I am in LOVE.

So, the moral of the story is:
Don't cut your own hair...but if you do...your mom will make sure that your hair will be cuter than ever by the time you're done.

All is well that ends well right?

We're all smiles here :)

Creating

I love looking at craft blogs. There are so many wonderful ideas out there.

I am finding that I have a ever growing list of things I want to make or repurpose. So, I started with something simple and much needed.

I have a bunch of ribbon. Why not put it to good use?

Aren't they cute?!

May 10_0232 web

All you need is:

. ribbon
. buttons (or something for the center if you wish)
. a needle and thread
. a hot glue gun (to secure the embellishment in the middle)
. a lighter/matches (to keep the ends of the ribbon from fraying)

Here's a video tutorial . You only need to watch the first 3:30 minutes to make the flower.

You pretty much just do a simple running stitch along the very edge of one side of the ribbon and pull the thread tight to gather your flower. Then, you tie it off. There's not really much more to it. You can get creative with how you decorate the outside or the center. The sky is the limits with this one really. That's what I love about it.

You could attach them to a purse or shirt (anything really). I just attached them to clips for Madi's hair. I really needed some smaller bows/flowers for her hair and these are perfect!!

Happy creating :)

One spur of the moment decision..

...and it's gone!

Madi's hair that is.

It's not all gone.

It's just trimmed up and all evened out.

I gave her a bath and when she got out, the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel" was on. I figured we could watch it for 10 minutes or so. That gives me some valuable cuddle time with my girl :)

I was brushing her hair and she wasn't even moving an inch. She was glued to that tv. That's when I had the bright idea to cut her hair!

She was still and wouldn't even notice. Never mind that David brought me the paper scissors instead of my hair scissors, or the fact that the light was off due to the whole "movie experience". I just went ahead and did it.

May 2010__0007

I was right! She was still the whole time and didn't even know what I was doing until the very last second when I was done.

Success :)

It's not exactly how I imagined my little girl's first hair cut, but it's done and she's a doll :)

I'm loving how clean and not straggly it looks now.

I'll try to get a better picture of it in the day light tomorrow, but for now...this is the best I can do.

Oh What Do You Do In The Summer Time?

Every time I start a new post I get distracted/side tracked by a new exciting blog or a fun website. Before I know it, Madisyn is awake and I still don't have a new post done :) So, yay for me! I finished a post!

We have been taking lots of walks, going to lots of parks, grocery shopping, having picnics, lunch dates, lake trips...you name it we've done in in the last couple of weeks. Here's just a few more things we've been doing this summer.

Just keeping it cool :) If it is a hot day [which has been pretty much every day lately] you can always find Madisyn in her new favorite place. Face first, into the AC!
