Marlie just wants to say: look what I can do!

I sat Marile on the couch this morning and she just sat there, as if she's been sitting up forever!

I totally didn't expect it.

So, I grabbed the camera and got video and then put her on the floor to get some pictures.

It seems too soon! I got out Madi's calendar that has all her milestones on it (I don't have one for Marlie. That makes me sad.) and I realized Madi sat up at 5 months! I didn't even expect to see that. I was always up on the latest milestones Madisyn should be reaching, but with Marlie I have just been enjoying every moment of her being a baby. I just figure she's a storng, healthy, beautiful girl and she will do things when she's ready. No need to worry about it. I just love every moment!

I couldn't be more proud of you baby doll!


Just a few days ago she could only look up at me from her back or her tummy and now she's sitting up with the rest of us!

While we're talking about Marlie....

Here's an update about her not being able to keep her food down when she's sleeping.

The doctor called me the next day and she suggested that it sounded like a she was developing a reflux because the food hadn't been digested enough by the time we layed her down to sleep. Then, laying on her back would alow the food to come up. Yikes!

I'm happy to say, it was an easy fix. We elevated her mattress and that worked like a charm! She hasn't thrown up since. Can I just say how much I LOVE the girl's pediatrician. She is amazing. She was the first one who checked Madisyn before we left the hospital where she was born. I've loved her ever since.

Speaking of Marlie eating, she is one picky eater! I was just expecting her to eat everything, since her sister did and still does. One thing I learned really quickly is that not all children are alike. I don't know why I expected Marlie to be a carbon copy of Madisyn, but I am so happy to say that she most definitely has her own little sweet personality.

So far she likes:

• green beans
• peas
• carrots
• sweet potatoes
• squash
• applesauce

She dose NOT like:

• peaches
• bananas
• cheese
• mangos
• pretty much all fruits I've tryed to give her!

Who would have known. She's a veggie girl :)

October in a nutshell...

Hello out there.

Has it really been a month since my last post? I was getting pretty overwhelmed with how behind I'm getting. Is it really a big deal if I don't blog very often? Yes. This is my journal. I am horrible at journal writing, but this is my little book of remembrance. One day I'll actually get it printed out. That's the plan anyways. So with that said, here's our whirlwind of an October so far. It's been great!!


Madisyn has become quite the artist. She loves to color and she does an amazing job of staying in the lines for a 2 year old. Being artistic and creative just comes naturally to her. I went out and got her some watercolors and she is totally eating it up! (not literally) She paints at least once a day. I just love watching her learn and grow. She amazes me!

Conference weekend was so fulfilling. We got to hear some wonderful talks. I just love conference! In between the two Saturday sessions, we went to a petting zoo/pumpkin patch nearby. Madisyn needed to get out after being cooped up for conference. We had a great time!


The following Tuesday we had the pleasure of meeting one of our favorite missionaries at the airport to welcome him home. He is such an amazing young man. Houston Texas will miss him dearly. Love you Michael!


Just a week after that, my sister and her little cutie pie came to visit us from Florida! They came for Marlie's' blessing, but they were here for almost a week. I loved having girl time with my sister and watching the cousins interact was so much fun!


While Celeste was here we took a trip to the zoo. The weather looked pretty promising when we got there, and before we knew it, it was pouring rain. We still had so much fun. We were a little...ok REALLY wet by the time we were done, but the kids were nice and cozy in their strollers. That's all that matters right? Happy kids = happy mommies :)


My family arrived from California on Friday night and we all took a quick walk across the street from our place to grab some frozen yogurt. I grew up going to the local frozen yogurt place where we lived. There's nothing like going to the ice cream shop with my family. It will always hold such fond memories. Thanks guys!


The next morning, we made some breakfast burritos, scarfed down a few donuts and headed to the local high school for a game of soccer with mine and David's families. What a fun way to start the day! It was a good warm up for our next activity.


We all came home, got dressed up and headed for Seattle. We hit all the "tourist attractions". We spent some time at the top of the Space Needle, checked out the EMP, rode the monorail, hit up Pikes Place, and had dinner and the oh so wonderful "Crab Pot". It was the cherry on the top of a really great day.

A very important day in my life. The day my little angel Marlie was blessed. There was so much family and we had another very full, but very perfect day. It was so good that I decided it deserves its own post. Soon to come!*


Most of my family left the night of Marlie's blessing, but we got to keep Celeste and Evelyn a little longer. This is just a peek at our last day's adventures.



Well, there you have it. The first half of October :) Now for the second half. We'll see how long it takes me to get that up :)

I just haven't figured out how to be a mommy of a 2 year old, a 1 month old AND blog at the same time.  Any suggestions?

Special treatment

My sweet girl has had a fever of over 102 for the past 4 days.

Did I mention that it's been over 90 degrees here in WA this week.

102 body temp + 90 temp outside = one miserable girl

Not to mention, one worried, worn out mother and father.

She still has her fever. I'm just glad to say that the weather man predicts that next week is going to be in the high 70s. Perfect!

So, Madisyn has been getting a lot of special treatment lately. Those droopy tear filled eyes make mommy and daddy say yes to things that would normally be out of the question.

Tonight was no exception. See for yourself.

Yes. She's eating dinner upstairs in front of the TV. Odd...

....but she was a happy girl and those moments were too few and far between today.

Oh and one more thing.

I may have gotten some unexpected special treatment today too....

David may have placed the winning bid on eBay for one of these babies.

Oh wow. I can't even begin to say how excited I am to get this in the mail!

I am a little sad though. I don't want to say goodbye to my D60. It's been a wonderful camera. Hopefully it will find a new home with a lucky eBay bidder who appreciates it as much as I have. It's given me some beautiful photos and I learned everything I know on it.

I am ready to move on to a more "grown up" photographer's camera. After all, I did just order my first business cards. It's time for a professional camera to go with them.

Dinner And A Show

I made BBQ pork sandwiches for dinner last week and boy did Madisyn love it. As you can see, she pretty much bathed herself and the dining room in it :) Oh the joys of motherhood!

After dinner, and a good old fashioned sponge bath [or two] Madisyn gave us a little show with her newest toy. Who needs toys when you've got huggies?

Another "Just Because" Video

Thanksgiving Break

Wow! Vacation sure can wear you out (in a good way). We had a very full, but fun holiday break. We got to see so many relatives and my sister and her husband were there too! We drove to Malta Idaho, population 171, with David's parents in their motor home. Lets just say it took a little longer to get there than we had planned (16 hours), but we all made it safe and very tired in the end. We all got a good sleep only to wake up early to help out with Thanksgiving dinner. My mother in law prepared a cajun deep fried turkey and that was by far the best I've EVER had! Madisyn had her own first Thanksgiving feast of mashed potatoes and yams...yummy! We ate our feast around 1:00, did a little clean up and relaxing. Then the boys played basket ball while the girls went to a cute little craft show, where I picked up this "home" sign! Thanks Kathy :)
Afterwords, mostly everyone went to set up for Natalie (David's cousin) and Max's wedding reception. I stayed at home with Madisyn, because unfortunately she was pretty sick (that's why her nose looks pretty nasty and shiny in all the picks above) with a nasty head cold. I've never seen her that sick and it was so sad. Traveling is hard for babies cus it throws off their schedules. Anyways, the lack of sleep and traveling caught up with me that night too. When David got home he said he didn't feel very well either! One big sick family! Oh, well we all slept very well that night. We woke up nice and early to make our way to Twin Falls for the sealing. We were in the largest sealing room the church has. It held about 70 people and there wasn't an empty seat. It was so neat. Here's the happy couple! Aren't they gorgeous. Congrats Natalie and Max!
After some very windy pictures, we headed to the mall to kill some time before the luncheon. When all was said and done we headed back to Malta (that's where we stayed). Then, it was off to the reception, which was simply beautiful. The highlight of the night had to be when my dear friend Trish and her little family got there! She has been my best friend since 9th grade (she is also David's cousin, that's how David and I met) and I hadn't seen her since last December. She had never even met my little Madi till then. It was so much fun to see our kids playing with each other.  
The next day we all slept in and had a huge breakfast, packed up, then off we went on our trip home. We made much better time, despite the fact that we stopped at "Wingers", which is a restaurant that David worked at in Utah and he is in love with it. That is not an exaggeration! That was probably the highlight for him of this whole trip :) Silly goose. So, in the end we made it home safe and sound. What a great vacation full of family, friends and lots of fun!

A Day of Giving Thanks

Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving in advance. The holidays are so busy and full of family and friends. I just love it! I thought I'd list a few of my "thankful things". They aren't in any particular order.

1. I am so thankful to be a mother! That is the highest calling a woman could ever ask for and I absolutely love it. Madisyn is an amazing little girl with such a sweet spirit. I feel so blessed to call her my daughter.

2. I can't say enough how grateful I am to to married to David (my love). He is such a great dad and his drive just amazes me. When he puts his mind to it, he can accomplish anything! I'm so proud of him, and I love him so much!

3. I love the church. I am so blessed to have the gospel that allows me to be with my family forever. I can't imagine how it would be to invest so much time in my loved ones lives and not know if I'd even see them after this life. I love being a member of this church. It has made me the mother, wife, daughter, and Child of God that I am today.

4. Modern conveniences get taken for granted by me a lot, but I am very thankful for them. Where would I be without my microwave, oven, toilet!, you get the picture. Without my computer I wouldn't be able to spend countless hours working on my blog! I can't say enough about how happy I am to live in this day and age. I love working with technology.

5. Prayer. I can't even count how many times I've pleaded with the Lord to help me with something at that moment or over a period of time. As soon as I humble myself enough to get on my knees, there is a peace like nothing else that comes over me and I know everything will be alright. I love knowing I can communicate with my Heavenly Father.

6. I have really enjoyed living in this little town. The people are amazing and I have felt more of a warm welcome here than anywhere we've been since we got married. I have made friendships that are priceless. I am so grateful to be where we are right now. Life is good!

Eat Your Veggies!

Ok, I have a lot of posts to catch up on and I am house sitting right now, Madi's sleeping and I have about an hour. Here we go!

We have a good eater on our hands! Madi ate her first solid food (besides good ol rice cereal) last week. I decided to start with green beans, cus they're not very sweet. I didn't want to give her something delicious to start off with, cus then she probably wouldn't like the boring green beans later. Needless to say, she made some very silly faces, gagged a bit, and rolled it around in her mouth like a cow chewing. After all that she'd open her mouth wide and want more! She ended up eating every last bite I gave her. Yay Madisyn! I did that for dinner for 3 days, then gave her sweet potatos. No gagging on that yummy stuff. That was my most favorite baby food when I was young, so like mother like daughter ;) I am having so much fun feeding her and watching her exploring and learning all these new things. She has such a zest for life and I love it!
