Special Day

Today is turning out to be a pretty special day :)

Madi popped her head up from her crib and gave me a great big smile first thing this morning :)

I woke up to these beauties and a card from my sweetie husband.

I walked out of my bedroom and heard "Happy Birthday!" from my mommy in law, as she ran out the door to work.

I had a bunch of birthday wishes on my facebook page this morning. Thank you all!

My grandma Jeanne called and wished me a "Happy Anniversary". Gotta love her :) She had good intentions and I love her for that!

My sweet sister Celeste called to wish me a "Happy Birthday".

.......It's only 10 am and it's turning out to be a pretty special day already!

Ahhh Vacation

What else can I say? We had an awesome vacation. We got to see my family, David's family, and I even reunited with two of my best friends from high school. Here's just a few of the things we experienced in the past 2 weeks...

* camping
* swimming (in several awesome lakes in tahoe)
* hiking
* cliff jumping
* golfing
*shopping
* lots of eating
* relaxing
* tanning
* fireworks watching
* picture taking (of course!)
* sports playing
* flying
* the list could go on forever...

You get the idea. We had a very full, but very fun vacation!
Here's the proof :) [You didn't think I would only show you one picture, did you?]

Now it's back to the every day. It's good to be home.

Girls Night!!!

I have always LOVED plays [especially musicals], but I'm pretty sure the last time I've been to one was in NY on my honeymoon. Ok that is WAY too long. Lucky me, I got to go see Seven Brides For Seven Brothers at the college with the girls! They did such a great job! It was so cute and the perfect getaway for the night! I promise I won't wait so long to go see another play this time!

I only got a picture of the stage before the play started because of copyright laws :(  Oh well..

Getaway

I must start by saying that I am 2 weeks behind on updates so bear with me :) We'll get there eventually!

We got to go on a much needed getaway with our friends last weekend!
Friday night we drove up to Wenatchee. We had dinner with friends and off we went (about 2 miles) down the road to a cute little 3 bedroom condo for the night. Yes we brought Madi and they brought their 2 little ones. It was a vacation, just not a kidless (is that even a word) vacation! We woke up and had breakfast. Then, the guys (David and Dustin) headed straight for the slopes. The resort was only 20 minutes away from our condo, which made it really nice! My friend Lore and I stayed with the kids and after a few adventures (a NASTY blown out diaper...I mean everywhere, and a few board kids), we managed to get all packed up and off to the home where we hung out and had lunch. At 12:30 Lore and I headed off to the resort to meet up with our hubbies. They gave us their passes and headed back to be with the kids. YES! It was our turn to enjoy the empty slopes. It was so nice to just have some mommy time and not have to be rushed or worry what we would come home to...haha.

The guys did their skiing first and they had a blast. Being hot shots and doing pretty much every double black diamond on the resort as well as a lot of "backcountry area". They were pretty proud of that!

This is the part where it gets more interesting...well for me anyways. I hadn't been skiing in 2 years. To make things worse, the last time I'd gone skiing it ended in a sled ride by the ski patrol and I couldn't walk for a month after that. Now, I am a "head person". If something is bothering me, or I don't feel good etc, I can just think about something else or do something to distract myself for the time being. I basically just "stuff" it. The only thing wrong with that is it ALWAYS comes up later. You'll see what I mean in a minute.

So, deep down I was REALLY nervous (and that's an understatement) about skiing again. To make what could be a long story short, Lore and I got the hang of it...Lore caught on much faster than I :) We skied for 2 hours and I only fell 3 times! Just little falls and no injuries! After that, we went to the lodge to get some H2O and ended up just talking and enjoying ourselves for another hour. Add that all up and that = 3 hours of mommy time! Yipee! Hooray!

DSC_2605eDSC_2610e
When we got back to the car we took some pictures (my little kodak was dead and there was no way I was bringing my nikon baby up that mountain) to document our successful, wonderful day.

We went back to the house for dinner and some much needed relaxing. I was pooped! We got on the road around 7pm and as soon as my bum hit the seat of the car, I had a full blown migraine complete with nausea and all. This is where the "mind person" thing comes in. I made myself so nervous and worked up about skiing again that I literally made myself sick. This is most certainly not the first time this has happened to me. It's a pretty frequent occurrence for me unfortunately. Needless to say, I puked my guts out, on the side of the road. Not very glamorous :/ The next morning I felt as good as new! Next time I will verbalize how nervous I am and maybe it'll help the after effect of the whole trip to go a little more smoothly if you know what I mean.

Even with all the eventful things I could have done without, we had a wonderful time! It was the perfect getaway and I would totally do it again! Thanks Lore and Dustin for a wonderful weekend :)

Madi Bday1_0305crop
Some awesome friends to celebrate with! [They really are all the awesomest! The plans I had for Madi to celebrate with her friends fell through at the last minute...I mean like 10 minutes before we were out the door. I knew it would make Madi's day if she could just be with her friends. In a mad dash, I made my way to the phone and 45 minutes later a sign was up, the house was clean, the pizza was here, and so were all our wonderful friends!]
Thank you :)

Madi Bday1_0242
The first grab at what was her first real sugary treat! Oh and 1 candle!

Madi Bday1_0250
I should mention...it was a trick candle. Oooops :) [I just grabbed the first one I saw out of the drawer. It ended up being pretty funny and her friends loved trying to blow it out. Look at Dalan's face!]

The first lick of that cream cheese frosting....yummmmmmy.

Awe the sound of paper ripping to shreds. [Thank you so much for the sweet gifts!]

Madi Bday1_0323e
A few hours later...the house was back in order and Madi had taken a much needed nap. She woke up to her "gift" from mommy and daddy all set up for her [the doll stroller]. There were also some gifts from Grandma Jaci all wrapped in green.

Finish off the day with a nice warm bath and some snuggles with mom & dad :)

We had a really great day with our little one year old. I am so proud of everything she's accomplished in her 1 year of life. She makes me want to push myself to learn and develop new talents. I feel so blessed to call her my own.

I just love surprises!

Ok, how cute is this apron!?!?!  It's so springy and get a load of those polka dots :) [Yes dots make me smile]

The mail man brought me this adorable gift from Sarah yesterday. [The mail man has been good to me lately!] I won a giveaway she was having, but I had no idea what she was making for me, or when I would get it! I had no doubt it would be awesome. She is so talented...especially when it comes to sewing. What a great surprise!

I Heart Photography!

Both of my recent photo shoots were done for two of my dearest friends which makes it that much more fun :) It was such a gorgeous sunny day today. I was itching to get outside and take some pictures. So, I called up Pam and asked if I cold "borrow" her kids for an hour. She was more than happy to help and I was so excited!
I give you the Brown kids. They are so much fun and so full of life!

Sydney
Sydney is such a little sweety! She carried that bear the entire time.

This young gentleman is Joel. Doesn't he have the cutest smile?! And last but not certainly not least is Bailey. She is the life of the party! What a DOLL!

Pam you have some very photogenic kidos! Thank you so much for braving the cold with me!

Precious Macie Mary

Here's a sneak peek at sweet Macie. I had so much fun capturing every movement this tiny girl made. I shot from her home and even though the light wasn't the best, I think we've got some great shots! We had lots of laughs, feeding breaks, wardrobe changes, funny faces, and more feeding breaks :)

Play Time!

Madi&Sydney
The second Sydney walked through the door, Madisyn let out a squeal of excitement! There hasn't been much for her to look forward to lately besides mommy and daddy of course :) We don't get outside much during the winter. So, Madi loves it when she has friends to play with!
Here's some cute shots of the morning glories themselves. Enjoy!

*Pam I have these separately if you want a copy of any of them.

Madi's First Christmas

I have been avoiding this post because there's so much to say. So, I'll just keep it simple. We drove to Cali for 2 weeks to spend Christmas with my family. Then, we came back to Snohomish to spend a "late Christmas" with David's family. Our vacation was packed full of family, fun, gifts, down time, shopping, movies, bowling, golfing, games and lots of food! I have over 600 pictures of our vacation, so I posted a bunch of the best ones on our Picasa photo site. Here our a few of the highlights in no particular order :)

Going out to breakfast Christmas morning

Out to lunch with grandma and grandpa Greenwood. Love you both!

Madi was so happy about her first Christmas morning! (she was actually just hungry =)

Madisyn got a spare her very first time bowling! What a rock star!

The incredibly adorable stocking I made (with my mommy's help) for Madisyn...I LOVE IT!

Madisyn's first pony tail...what a doll!

Spending time with my Tricia and her little family :) Best buds

Grandma and Grandpa Fairbanks...they are the best!

Madisyn's most favorite Christmas gift. Once she opened this bad boy, all she wanted to do was play with it. Thanks grandma Jeanne!

Yay hoooo! I got my sewing machine...stay tuned for many wonderful things made with this...I hope :]

We also got our family pictures taken by the fabulous Jana. Check them out!
